Job Purpose:

To promote client safety, while fostering a trauma-informed environment

Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, and access points; permitting entry

To provide administrative support and other documentation as needed

To represent our Mission, Vision and Values and continue to grow professionally and spiritually

The Community Monitor will help create and maintain a safe and secure shelter environment for shelter residents, staff, and visitors

by ensuring compliance of shelter rules by all onsite individuals. This position is non-exempt. schedule of 16 hours per week evenings.

There are currently two open positions both position are five hour shifts to be available during the check-in time for the women's shelter:

1 part-time 20 hours per week

1per-diem 15 hours per week.

Skills / Requirements

Education: Minimum AA Social Services, Psychology, Human Development, Criminal Justice, Ministry or related field from an accredited institution (or commensurate experience, equating to 2 years).

Experience: Minimum 3 years full-time work experience with individuals experiencing homelessness, various addiction challenges, mental illness and/or dual diagnosis is preferred. Security experience in a shelter setting preferred. Nonprofit experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Calmly and sensitively employ appropriate de-escalation techniques with residents; working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.
