Position Profile

Receives and displays merchandise, totals sales, and accepts payment from customers.  Support Assistant Manager in different areas, assists customer needs with resale merchandise.  Helps maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the store.

 

The incumbent has no supervision of paid staff.  The incumbent has regular supervision of clients in job training assignments and external volunteers. 

The incumbent has a private office that is generally clean and comfortable.  It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.  The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. 

The incumbent works in a residential setting, which consists of individuals who may have a mental or physical disability or illness. 

This position is Full-Time 40 hours per week and is benefit eligible. We offer employer paid premiums for employer plans of medical, life/ADD, STD, LTD , Also available as voluntary election of Aflac, 403(b) savings plan, and voluntary life/ADD, STD, LTD plans.

Skills / Requirements

Education: Minimum high school diploma.

Experience: Minimum 6 months sales experience, preferably in a retail establishment, plus one year cash handling. Nonprofit experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Bilingual preferred; willingness to learn how to price store merchandise correctly and recognize quality merchandise, i.e., collectibles antiques, name brand clothing, vintage clothing, antique furniture, and bric-a-brac; good customer service skills; follow store procedures; work under fast-paced conditions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; maintain safe and clean working environment; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.

Special License/Certification: None.

Travel/Transportation: The incumbent must travel on a regular (or periodic) basis, as the job requires. The incumbent must have reliable transportation (public transportation may be acceptable depending on the purpose of travel). If the incumbent receives authorization to use a Mission vehicle to perform duties, he or she must present a current California driver’s license and good driving record in order to be placed on the Mission’s insurance policy.
