About the Development Team

The Development Team at the San Diego Rescue Mission is a high energy team of fundraising individuals who are passionate about serving those experiencing homelessness. The Development team is responsible for implementing the funding plan and raising the support needed to maintain and grow the San Diego Rescue Mission. It works closely with our Program staff to identify and assist in meeting organizational needs. Individuals who apply for this position should enjoy a team atmosphere and have strong communication skills but also be able to successfully manage their own workload with ease. About the Role

The Donor Care Assistant plays a key role for our Donor Services Team and the Development Department. They will be dealing with a fast-paced environment with stimulating challenges. This position is best suited to an individual who is a problem solver and strategic with their time. The Donor Care Assistant provides administrative support as well as customer care and assists with financial processing. The Donor Services team is growing, so team members should be flexible and adaptable to taking on new responsibilities and opportunities to serve the Development Team.

Responsibilities

The Donor Care Assistant is part of the Donor Services Team and is vital to support our donor care efforts. They will work closely with their team to help ensure that donations are processed and receipted promptly. They will engage with donors and community partners through phone and email, providing the highest level of customer care. They will fulfill administrative responsibilities for the development management team as assigned by the Donor Services Manager. They also are expected to develop their skills around the database software to expand their ability to support the Development Team.

Skills / Requirements

Education: Minimum of GED or Highschool Diploma.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of work experience in a related field either data entry, reception, or customer service focused.

Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices; Provide excellent customer service (written, on the telephone and in person); Ability to perform standard arithmetic functions; Competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas and instructions; Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.

Important Notes

This position is full time, eligible for benefits, employer pays 85% of medical, also included employer paid life/ADD and disability plan, vacation, 9 paid holidays, 3 personal days and sick pay.  Dental and vision available at additional cost, voluntary benefits for life/ADD and a 401K retirement plan with employer match.
