About the Development Team
The Development Team at the San Diego Rescue Mission is a high energy team of fundraising individuals who are passionate about serving those experiencing homelessness. The Development team is responsible for implementing the funding plan and raising the support needed to maintain and grow the San Diego Rescue Mission. It works closely with our Program staff to identify and assist in meeting organizational needs. Individuals who apply for this position should enjoy a team atmosphere and have strong communication skills but also be able to successfully manage their own workload with ease. About the Role
The Donor Services Assistant is a role that focuses on serving our donors with excellent customer service, attention to detail and quality communication. We are looking for an individual who tackles any responsibility with focus and determination. This role is best suited to someone who is highly administrative and task-oriented but also enjoys interacting with donors and team members on a regular basis. The Donor Services team is growing, so team members should be flexible and adaptable to taking on new responsibilities and opportunities to serve the Development Team.
The Donor Services Assistant is part of the Donor Services team and will spend up to 70% of their time handling financial processing. Their day will start by picking up the mail from the post office, sorting the donations, scanning the checks into the processing software, and finally reviewing before deposit. They will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our donors; this will be about 20% of their time. Serving our donors includes taking donations over the phone, responding to email or phone inquiries within a business day, and providing tours as needed. The Donor Services Assistant will also support the Data Services Manager by completing assigned tasks that maintain the integrity of the donor database this will be the remaining 10% of their time.

Skills / Requirements
Experience: Minimum 2 years full-time work experience or similar work environment. Nonprofit experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Proficient in data entry; basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); 10-key; coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; regular, timely attendance. Good phone etiquette; able to respond in a caring, empathetic and grateful manner; willing to meet and greet donors
This position is full time exempt position, eligible for benefits. Employer pays 85% of medical, also included employer paid life/ADD and disability plan, vacation, holidays and sick pay. Dental and vision available at additional cost, voluntary benefits for life/ADD and a 401K retirement plan with employer match once vested.
