Job Description

The Marketing and Events Coordinator is a key member of the Development team and should assist the Marketing Director in achieving marketing, communications and event projects and goals. The Marketing and Events Coordinator has the responsibilities of assisting in day-to-day marketing operations, the coordination of Sleepless San Diego, strengthening donor communications and being a strong representative of the San Diego Rescue Mission.o serve as a member of the Development Team

To arrange and coordinate special events, projects and mailings

To assist in our efforts in public relations and community events

Leadership Essentials

To Serve as a Member of the Development Team

  • Meet regularly with Development Team to collaborate and coordinate ministry efforts
  • Assist the development team in donor communication and cultivation
  • Support in achieving the annual development plan and budget
  • Provide a strong support of all team operations and projects

To support marketing day-to-day operations

  • To support the Marketing Director in key projects and initiatives
  • Provide administrative and communication support
  • To help develop, order and manage marketing materials
  • Work with the Donor Relations Assistant to complete donor communications projects

To arrange and coordinate special events and projects

  • To coordinate and execute our annual Fundraiser and community event, Sleepless San Diego event with the support of the Marketing Director
  • To support the development as needed during event planning and execution
  • To provide day-of event support during Development run events

To aid in designing and creating marketing materials and communications

  • Assist in improving and developing Mission Communications
  • To aid the Marketing Director in communications projects and strategies
  • To work with the Social Media Consultant and Web Designer to improve online engagement 

To Assist in Our Efforts in Public Relations and Community Events

  • Represent the Rescue Mission by providing tours, speaking at events, and being a strong representative of the organization
  • Research and maintain a strong knowledge on the San Diego Rescue Mission and an understanding of Homelessness in San Diego
  • Actively build community, donor and business relationships

Represent our Mission, Vision and Values

  • Protect the Mission, Pursue the Vision and Reflect the Values of the SDRM
  • Help build the TEAM and grow the capacity and impact of the SDRM
  • Be intentional about developing Diversity among our staff and volunteers

Continue to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ and Spiritual Leader

Skills / Requirements

Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field from an accredited institution.

Experience:  Minimum 2-3 years full-time work experience in events planning or marketing that demonstrates successful execution of projects and events.  Must be familiar with the San Diego philanthropic community, Non-profit experience preferred

 Skills and Abilities:  Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; regular, timely attendance.
