Job Description


Supervise Recuperative Care Unit and its residents to ensure stability and continuity of program as well as adherence to rules and safety. Provide assistance to clients in managing their medications. Focus on client’s medical needs.

Other duties may be assigned.

Explain procedures and treatments to client to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.

Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of client.

Record new medication on to client’s medical charts; facilitates prescription refills; supervises over-the-counter medication for clients to ensure safety; and distributes medication as scheduled.

Observe clients, and communicates with appropriate program staff about special needs of clients; informs staff when clients are not taking their medication.

Counsel residents in identifying and resolving social or other problems.

Compile records of daily activities of residents and keeps communication log with supervisor; enters data electronically.

Conduct periodic inspection of residence to ensure community safety and hygiene standards are being met.

Request supplies and determines need for maintenance, repairs, furnishings and housekeeping.

Stay visible and involved in the activities of the program.

Perform nightly bed checks as needed.

Respond promptly to situations as they arise.

Preserves a supportive work environment by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity at all times, and works to resolve grievances; maintains professionalism and promotes a positive Mission image.

Supports and participates in the Work Therapy program; assists Program staff in creating a productive, therapeutic, educational and professional environment that enables clients to learn and/or develop job skills and appropriate workplace behaviors.


Skills / Requirements

Education: High school diploma. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Ministry or related field from an accredited institution a plus.

Experience: Minimum 2 years full-time work experience with the homeless, substance abusers, mentally ill and/or dually diagnosed. Nonprofit experience preferred.

.Must be able to work evenings, overnights, weekends and/or holidays.
