The Early Childhood Specialist serves in the Children’s Center Department, in our licensed Christian preschool program. Under the direction of the Child Center Director/Early Childhood Coordinator plans and implements the Inspire Reggio Emilia curriculum designed to promote social, physical, spiritual, and intellectual growth for children ages 2-5 years of age experiencing homelessness or in transition.

  • To provide a classroom environment maintaining licensing compliance and promotes the health and safety of each individual child
  • To implement Trauma Sensitive environment and developmentally appropriate curricula that addresses the needs of each individual child
  • To effectively supervise volunteers, interns, and to promote professional growth
  • To provide administrative support and other documentation as needed
  • To represent our Mission, Vision, and Values and continue to grow professionally and spiritually

Skills / Requirements


  • Child Development Associate Degree
  • 12 units in Child development are required:
  • Child/human growth and development
  • Child, family, and community, or child and family relations
  • Programs/curriculum
  • at least six months of on-the-job training and/or work experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable group childcare program
  • 16 hours of health and safety training (Title 22)
  • 1 year experience serving children with special needs
  • At least 6 months of group care
  • Writing Observation Notes
  • At least 3 months of the Inspire Reggio Emilia Curriculum


  • Bachelor of Child Development or related field
  • Non-profit experience
  • Child Development Master Teacher Permit or A current and valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with the appropriate age-level endorsement issued by the CDA National Credentialing Program of the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
